Kino in der Steiermark with MVD
This was my first exhibition design project where I really designed everything. it was a very nice project with a great team. Especially the good co-operation with Maria Froihofer and Karl Wratschko allowed many different and experimental solutions. An important aspect of the exhibition was to find a sustainable solution for a temporary one-year exhibition in the historical Museum of History in Graz. The basic idea was to solve the production as best as possible on site and to draw as many resources as possible from the previous exhibition. This resulted in stools/table constructions and substructures etc. My personal highlight was the translation of a drawing by our intern into a spatial historical cinema entrance experience.
Year: 2021
The exhibition highlights over 125 years of Styrian film and cinema history – from the first screenings in the 19th century to traveling cinemas, early movie theaters, and film production from the 1910s onwards, including politically influenced eras, the post-war "Golden Age," and "Thaliwood." Additional themes include the legacy of Styrian amateur filmmakers, Eumig projector production, underground films, and Styrian filmmakers' commercial successes. The focus lies on cinematic imagery, people, and places in historical context, showcased through photos, posters, scripts, technical equipment, and cinema artifacts.
